Lotto America

Lotto America is a multi-state lottery which relaunched in November 2017, giving participants the chance to win prizes in nine different tiers. Lotto America previously existed as a lottery game from 1988-1992 before being rebranded as Powerball, and has now been revived in an exciting new format following the cancellation of Hot Lotto.

Lotto America Tickets & Draws

Lotto America draws are held in Tallahassee, Florida each Wednesday and Saturday at around 11.15 p.m. ET/10.15 p.m. CT. Ticket sales typically close 1 hour before the draw, but this can vary between states.

Two individual ball machines are used in each draw - one to pick the 5 main numbers and another to select the final Star Ball. Players can watch Lotto America draws live on the internet

How to Play Lotto America

Lotto America players are required to pick five main numbers from a range of 52, plus one Star Ball from a separate pool of 1 to 10. Alternatively, players can select the Quick Pick option to have Lotto America numbers randomly selected for them. Tickets costs $1 per line, but for an additional $1 players can also select an All Star Bonus option to have any non-jackpot prize multiplied - much like the Powerplay option in Powerball.

An All Star Bonus number is drawn at the end of each game, increasing the value of any prize apart from the jackpot by two, three, four or five times.

Lotto America Prizes & Odds

There are nine prize tiers in Lotto America. Players have to match all five main numbers plus the Star Ball to win the jackpot, which will start at $2 million, but it is also possible to win a prize just by matching the Star Ball on its own.

The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 9.6.

Match Odds of Winning Prize % of Prize Pool
Match 5 + Star Ball 1 in 25,989,600 Jackpot 23.10%
Match 5 1 in 2,887,733 $20,000 0.69%
Match 4 + Star Ball 1 in 110,594 $1,000 0.90%
Match 4 1 in 12,288 $100 0.81%
Match 3 + Star Ball 1 in 2,404 $20 0.83%
Match 3 1 in 267 $5 1.87%
Match 2 + Star Ball 1 in 160 $5 3.12%
Match 1 + Star Ball 1 in 29 $2 6.86%
Match 0 + Star Ball 1 in 17 $2 11.80%

The Lotto America jackpot does not have an upper limit, so it will keep rolling over until someone matches 5 + Star Ball.

All Star Bonus

Here are the odds of each All Star Bonus number being drawn:

All Star Bonus Ball Odds
5x 1 in 10.67
4x 1 in 8
3x 1 in 3.2
2x 1 in 2.13

This number determines how much prizes increase for players who added the All Star Bonus option to their Lotto America ticket. For example, if the 5x All Star Bonus ball was selected then the Match 5 prize would increase from $20,000 up to $100,000.
