Winners by Country

Across these 9 participating nations, there have been 411 jackpot winners since the first EuroMillions draw back in 2004. Take a look at the table below to find out exactly how many first prize winner each country has produced:

Country Number of Jackpot Winners
France 90
Spain 90
UK 78
Portugal 69
Belgium 34
Switzerland 18
Austria 16
Ireland 14
Luxembourg 2
Total 411

Why do some countries have more winners than others?

Players from France, Spain and the UK have had more opportunities to win the jackpot as they started playing EuroMillions 8 months before the other six participating countries. They held their first draw on 13th February 2004 with Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland joining the game later that year on 8th October 2004.

The number of jackpot winners also reflects how many residents take part in each EuroMillions draw - the countries with the most winners are also the countries which typically sell the most tickets.

For example, higher ticket sales in countries such as France and Portugal means that these players make up a larger percentage of the total entries into each draw than individuals from Luxembourg or Ireland. It therefore follows that if someone is lucky enough to match all of the numbers and claim the jackpot then they are more likely to be from one of these higher ticket sale countries, as they had more eligible players to begin with.

How to Play and Win EuroMillions

To play EuroMillions, players select five main numbers from 1 to 50 and two Lucky Stars between 1 and 12. The overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 13, while the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 139,838,160. To win the jackpot, players must match all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars drawn. There are 13 prize tiers in total, with players needing to match at least two main numbers to win a prize. For more information about the different prize tiers, visit the Prizes page.

The game has a starting jackpot of €17 million and a jackpot cap of €190 million, which has only been reached three times in the game’s history. The cap was first hit in August 2012 as UK couple Adrian and Gillian Bayford landed the nine-figure prize, before the feat was replicated by a Portuguese player in October 2014 and a Spanish ticket holder in October 2017.

Visit the Results page to see the latest winning numbers and prize breakdowns.

Winning is not restricted to those who live in participating countries. Players from across the world can choose their EuroMillions numbers online for the chance to bank eight or even nine-figure jackpots.
